In a recent analysis, Sparta’s Senior Oil Market Analyst, June Goh, highlights how Adnoc’s barrels have helped stabilize supply into Asia amid the ongoing energy crisis. Goh notes that regional refiners cannot easily replace the medium-sour crude typically produced in the Middle East, making every barrel exiting the Gulf essential. The UAE’s aggressive shuttle and dark-crossing operations—combined with pipeline workarounds—have allowed it to be the only Middle Eastern producer to restore pre-war seaborne export levels in June and July, providing a critical buffer that has helped keep Brent around $79. Traders should watch the continuation of these Hormuz workarounds and any progress toward a lasting strait reopening, both of which will determine how durable this supply cushion remains.
