Oil edges lower amid resumption Strait shipments even vessel hit near Oman

“There is a general sell-off as the market reacts to the increased flows exiting the Strait of Hormuz and China not yet picking up crude demand.” — June Goh, Senior Oil Analyst at Sparta Commodities

In a recent analysis for Reuters, Sparta’s Senior Oil Analyst, June Goh, flags the market disconnect between geopolitical risk and fundamentals: despite the Hormuz attack, crude prices are falling as supply concerns ease. Saudi Aramco has restarted loading at Ras Tanura with two VLCCs (two million barrels each) after a four-month halt, while stranded tankers continue exiting the strait. Brent has dropped 2% to $73.76 and is headed for an 8% weekly loss, driven by easing supply concerns and weak China demand. Traders should monitor China crude intake and track Gulf inflows closely to determine whether this sell-off is sustainable or a temporary dislocation.
