In a recent analysis for Reuters, Sparta’s Head of Product Experts, Jay Maroo, flagged that weakening jet demand after the summer travel high, combined with the expectation of higher European imports, is likely weighing on jet fuel prices. Jet cargoes arriving into Europe were assessed at a 24 USD per tonne discount to gasoil futures on 10 August, the widest since July 2025. That relative weakness sits against a diesel market moving the other way, with European diesel imports down to 1.56m bpd in July from 1.97m bpd in January and Russian export restrictions still in force. Traders should monitor the jet regrade into the autumn, because a demand-led jet discount alongside a supply-led diesel premium widens the spread and reprices middle distillate blending economics.
