Monthly APAC Chart Pack: July 2026

Crude premiums are collapsing while products hold firm. Here’s what traders need to watch.

The Strait of Hormuz reopening has pushed prompt AG crude into a mini-glut, but the barrels are landing faster than the natural trading window can absorb them. Products and freight tell a very different story, and the split is where the next moves sit.

Key takeaways:

  • Crude premiums in freefall: Murban tumbled more than $7/bbl vs Dubai in June, and Saudi cut its August OSP by $11/bbl into Asia.

  • AG arbs turn structural West: Diving crude premiums are keeping arbs open into NWE and USWC without the Brent-Dubai EFS needing to widen much further.

  • Diesel East/West at a decade low: August gasoil East/West sits in the bottom 3% of its 10-year range, opening AG/WCI ULSD LR2 into NWE and the Med.

  • Refining is the real constraint: Few 2026 newbuilds and US closures mean little incremental capacity outside China, keeping product cracks healthy.

  • Freight risk premium lower, rates are not: TD3C repriced sharply lower, but tight AG spot tonnage means VLCC rates won’t return to pre-war levels.
