Arbs suggest North Sea crude on shaky ground

10 March 2025 Time to read:  minutes

Commentary summary:

• Prompt DFL strength partly at play for North Sea’s weak arb position even with a narrow EFS.

• WTI cheap in Europe and the “only” major light crude open East (ex-CPC).

• Sverdrup closed East while LatAm crudes are open into Europe.

• Generally little sign of a glut in crude for now; global TARs should be peaking soon.

Tariff shenanigans and markets’ souring expectations for global (particularly US) growth seem to have left the market somewhat wanting in terms of developing physical trends.
