CAN YOU EXPLAIN YOUR ROLE
My role as a Senior DevSecOps encompasses various distinct fields, such as Development (Dev), Security (Sec), and Operations (Ops). In practice, it involves a set of very different tasks that contribute to the daily operations of different areas within the company. My responsibilities on a global scale may range from assisting developers with tools and tasks to enhancing infrastructure efficiency and cost savings. Additionally, I focus on improving product security, and I am involved in service migrations.
HOW DID YOU GET STARTED IN THE INDUSTRY?/CAN YOU GIVE ME A RUNDOWN OF YOUR CAREER PATH UP UNTIL THIS POINT?
My career began as a full-stack developer in the consulting field. Shortly after, I had the opportunity to transition to the DevOps and test automation area. For the last seven years, I have consistently worked in these two areas, contributing to various projects, from small and medium-sized projects to participating in massive projects linked to the Olympic Games.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE PART OF WORKING AT SPARTA?
The best part of working in this company is the company culture and colleagues. The human qualities of all the teammates, who are always willing to help and improve the final product, are amazing. Also, the core values of the company guide us in our day-to-day work, allowing me to enjoy doing what I love in my job.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF IN YOUR CAREER SO FAR?
What I am most proud of in my career is precisely that—its evolution. I take pride in maintaining the motivation to do what I love and continually learning new skills.
WHAT’S THE MOST INTERESTING PROJECT YOU’VE WORKED ON HERE AT SPARTA?
That would definitely be the gasoline blending tool, where I had to understand and learn the blending components to make finished gasoline products and how different countries have different specifications for gasoline.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE OUR COMPANY CULTURE?
I would highlight the culture of the company, the transparency and honesty of the executive team and the camaraderie and desire to do things well of the colleagues.
WHAT DO YOU THINK SETS OUR COMPANY APART FROM OTHERS IN THE INDUSTRY
What sets us apart the most, in my opinion, is the passion that we all bring to the projects and the human quality of all the people who are part of it.
WHAT’S THE MOST INTERESTING PROJECT YOU HAVE WORKED ON HERE AT SPARTA
I am fortunate to have been able to participate in many, and I couldn’t choose one over the others. What I can say is that the ones I like the least are the migrations.
WHAT PIECE OF ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO YOUR YOUNGER SELF?
Progress is not linear, but hard work and perseverance are always rewarded.
WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE NEXT FEW MONTHS/YEARS?
We have a fairly tight roadmap to follow, and the main goal is to meet all the expectations of the new developments while allocating time to enhance the security and performance of the platform. Furthermore, I believe we are right at a turning point; being the pioneers in this market, we need to capitalise on the momentum and seize the opportunity we have.
CAN YOU SHARE A PARTICULAR SKILL OR EXPERTISE YOU’VE DEVELOPED IN THIS ROLE THAT YOU DIDN’T EXPECT TO ACQUIRE?
There is a part of my job that is usually focused on solving problems and incidents that have previously been handled by others without resolution. I love challenges of this nature and enjoy solving complex problems. I take great pleasure in assisting with issues like these, treating them almost like puzzles, just a bit more abstract.
WHAT’S THE LAST SONG YOU LISTENED TO?
Although in my free time, I listen to a lot of hip-hop, when I’m working, I usually have calm music like lo-fi.
WHAT, IF ANYTHING, ARE YOU CURRENTLY BINGE-WATCHING OR READING?
I just finished the entire Brandon Sanderson saga, and now I want to go back to reading classic literature. I’ve started with The Brothers Karamazov.
WHAT’S ON THING PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU THAT THEY WOULD BE SURPRISED TO FIND OUT
I was a chess teacher for 7 years, and it’s one of the hidden passions I have. Even though I don’t have as much time to dedicate to it now, I love taking a break to play some games online or at the club with friends.
IF YOU HAD THREE WISHES, WHAT WOULD THEY BE?
My wishes would be for my family and friends to enjoy good health, to continue having the opportunity to work on something I love, and to have more free time to do the things I enjoy.
WHAT’S ONE THING ON YOUR BUCKET LIST
Outdoor rock climbing is an activity I started practicing a year ago in climbing gyms, but I haven’t had the opportunity to climb outdoors yet, and it’s something I would like to start doing. However, I’m currently dealing with an ankle injury, so I have to be patient and focus on recovering.
